Member Biographies

Rev Philip Johnson
Philip has been Vicar of Sleaford since 2013 and involved in school governance in both primary and secondary sectors for the past 20 years. He is passionate about facilitating school improvement and ensuring the highest quality educational provision for our children, knowing that children and young people are ambitious in all aspects of their life and develop in a safe environment that is concerned for the whole person. Prior to ordination, Philip was a Pathologist and taught tropical medicine in a Medical School. He is also Rural Dean of Lafford and a Chaplain in the RAuxAF.
Mr Garry Titmus
Following a sporty and hugely enjoyable education at Portsmouth Grammar School and a fascinating but less carefree few years at the Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth, Garry embarked on a 40 plus year naval career that included sea command, stints in both Naval and Defence staffs in Whitehall, years of training and teaching in staff colleges and even involvement in the world of NATO intelligence. He has served as governor of four schools in UK and abroad, chaired two PTAs and, is currently president of both national and local veterans’ associations. Elected as a local councillor in 2011 he was privileged to serve as chairman of STC and Sleaford’s mayor, standing down after six years. He is involved actively in a good handful of other organisations and associations and currently chairs the Sleaford Castle Heritage Group. When he has the time, he enjoys watching four of his sons, who were all educated at CGS, playing rugby and walking his rescued, native-born desert dog brought back after his 15 year service in Arabia.
Mr Andrew Hutton
Andrew was previously Chair of Governors at Carre's from October 2009 to 2017 and has held various roles including Chair of the Trust over many years. He has overseen the conversation to academy status, Sleaford's sixth form changes, Ofsted visits, as well as the creation of the MAT. He is an experienced general and project manager in the Transport Industry and having led the development work on the rebuilding of London Bridge station for eight years, he spent 3½ years seconded to the USA as Practice Lead, Stations and Commercial Development for Network Rail Consulting but returned to the UK in 2020 resuming his role as Chair of the Trust. He retired from that role in May 2023, but has now returned as a Member, with effect from July 2024
